Meghan’s Flower Secret

Pssst! Guess what?! You can make a flower change color. You need:

  • a white carnation
  • water
  • food coloring
  1. Fill a cup with water. Add several drops of your favorite food coloring to the water. (You can mix blue and red to make purple, blue and yellow to make green, or red and yellow to make orange.)
  2. Cut the end of the carnation at an angle. Place the flower into the colored water.
  3. Observe the flower for several days. Its petals should change to match the color of the water! Why? As water travels up through the stem and into the flower, it carries the dye with it, changing the petals from white to a new color.
  4. Meghan’s Words Like Apples of Gold Fruit Dip

The book talks about eating golden delicious apples. How about some yummy tummy dip to go with that? You need:

    • 8 oz. softened cream cheese
    • 3.4 oz. box of instant vanilla pudding
    • 1 cup of milk
      1. Combine cream cheese and a small amount of the milk in the blender.
      2. Blend in the instant pudding.
      3. Add milk slowly until mixture has a dipping consistency. (You may not use the full cup.)
      4. TADA! Serve immediately with sliced apples (or some other fruit). Store leftovers in the fridge.
